These are my thoughts on Teacher Appreciation Week

Well last week was Teacher Appreciation Week. I received quite a few gifts, a nicely decorated door, a million thank you notes written by 2nd graders and even a rose bush (yes, a rose bush, not a bouquet of roses, a rose bush). The best part though, was on Monday.

In my class, my kids earn fake money throughout the day and they can spend that money on rewards. One of the rewards is to be teacher for 10 minutes. This is quite an expensive reward as far as my rewards go, so it takes them a couple months to earn enough money to do this. Usually when they do finally earn enough money to buy it, they use their 10 minutes to give the class free time. So when my little Erica chose to buy 10 minutes of being the teacher, I expected her to give them free time. Instead she stood up in front of the class and gave this little speech:

"As you all know, this week is teacher appreciation week. Today we are going to make Miss Savage some cards to show her how much we appreciate her. So you all have to make a card whether you want to or not because I am the teacher and I say that's what we're doing."

Then there was some confusion about whether they were writing notes to Erica or to me, but eventually she got everyone on the right track. She wanted to make sure everyone spelled 'appreciation' correctly, so she wrote it on the board to help everyone out:
She spelled 'week' right, so I guess I haven't failed entirely.

Then the notes started coming in and I just have to share some of my personal favorites:

I don't know why a 2nd grader would need an assistant, but apparently this one thinks he does.

Well, I guess sometimes I am kind of a mess...

This is the outside of the note. The front says "Open it" and the back says "Close it." It's a good thing he told me how this card reading thing worked!

I'm not sure what these pictures had to do with anything, but I LOVE them! I think the first one is a baseball diamond and the second one is a penguin.

And this one just looks like a party. It makes me feel more exciting then I am.

I got so many other adorable notes that helped me remember just how much I love being a teacher!
Love weeks like this!

  1. Hahahah that is the cutest thing in the world how she spelled aprishyashan. Yours and Alissa's teacher stories always crack me up. It makes me really excited for when my little girl can say hilarious things!
