These are my thoughts on Christ

If you didn't already know, Jesus Christ is a very important part of my life. With today being Easter, I want to share my testimony of Christ, and what Easter and the atonement mean to me.

In church today, one of the speakers read the scripture Matthew 22:42, "What think ye of Christ?" Then the speaker challenged us to think about what Christ means to us personally. So I started thinking about it. Here are some of the thoughts I had.

I believe in the atonement of Jesus Christ. I know that in the Garden of Gethsemane He took care of the sins of the world, including my sins. I know that because He did this, I can be forgiven when I sincerely repent and desire to change.

I believe that He allowed himself to be crucified so He could rise again on the third day. And I know He did rise, that He now lives and that because He willingly gave up His own life, we will be resurrected too. I know that because of this atonement, we have no need to fear death. We will live again, as will all those we love.

I believe that on that night in Gethsemane, He not only suffered for my sins, but for every human pain as well.

"And he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities." (Alma 7:12)

This is the aspect of the atonement that is most personal to me. He felt my pain. Every heartache or disappointment that I have had or will ever have, He has felt. And He went through this so He would know how to comfort me when I faced these things. He is the Son of God. He could have spiritually known what we would go through here on Earth, but He chose to suffer physically so He would know exactly how we felt.

I am so grateful for the sacrifice of my Savior. I know He suffered and died for me. And I know He lives. I testify of these things in His name, Jesus Christ, amen.
